The fifth and final season of "The Wire" airs Sunday at 9:00 PM EST.
Everyone who's familiar with the show has their favorite characters. A few of mine are:
- Omar, the shotgun toting gay stick-up artist. The important distinction is that Omar will not rob "citizens:, as they call law abiding regular folks. My favorite Omar quote occured when he was cooperating as a police witness. The defendant's lawyer calls Omar a parasite, accusing him of making a living off the drug dealers he is robbing. Omar cooly replies, "just like you". The lawyer Levy blusters in an outraged manner, "Excuse me!", Omar coolly replies again, "I got the shot gun, you got the briefcase." Another great scene features Brother Mouzone confronting Omar. Did I mention Omar was gay? He doesn't fit the stereotype and he's definitely not on the down low.
- Marlo, the eerily dispassionate (psychotic) drug boss. Here's an excellent mix of Marlo moments I found.
- Felecia "Snoop" Pearson, played by Felecia "Snoop" Pearson. I had already seen quite a few episodes before I came to the conclusion that Snoop is a woman. Here's one of the best Snoop scenes. Note in the intro as Snoop walks through the store all the people staring at her.
- Jimmy McNulty. Back in season three, McNulty crashes a social function and at the host bar asks for a shot of Jameson. When the bartender offers him Bushmills, McNulty scoffs, "that's Protestant whiskey." The bartender replies, "the price is right." Here's a famous scene with Bunk & McNulty featuring great dialogue.
